Abdolhossein Shahnazi

Abdolhossein Shahnazi was born to a family of musicians in 1905. His older brother, Ali-Akbar Shahnazi, was his first teacher. He also studied the radif of Persian music with Baqer Khan Rameshgar. Shahnazi is known to have created a special tuning system for the tar.

During the years 1927-1937, the Columbia Recording Company was involved in a series of recordings featuring various Persian musicians. Abdolhossein Shahnazi took part in this project as a soloist and as a composer. His performances were recorded and broadcast in various music programs of Radio Iran from its establishment in 1941 until his death in 1948.
